Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Savannah School of Health Technology Honor Prof. Gwarzo with Named Facilities
Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Wudil, has named its sports complex after Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo in recognition of his contributions to higher education.

The Management of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUST), Wudil, has named its Sport Complex after the Founder and President of MAAUN Group of Universities, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo. The facility, now officially known as the Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Sport Arena, was unveiled by Prof. Gwarzo himself at the university campus on Monday.
During the unveiling ceremony, Prof. Gwarzo was accompanied by MAAUN management staff, including MAAUN President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, alongside top officials from ADUST. Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor of ADUST, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, highlighted that the decision to name the sports complex after Prof. Gwarzo was in recognition of his immense contributions to higher education across Africa.
Prof. Yakasai praised Prof. Gwarzo for establishing four private universities and equipping them with modern facilities, emphasizing that his dedication to education has transformed the sector. He also noted that ADUST would be hosting around 15 universities in the upcoming All Nigerian Universities Games (NUGA).
In response, Prof. Gwarzo expressed his gratitude for the recognition and pledged to support ADUST in accessing international grants to boost research and innovation. He further called for collaboration between ADUST and MAAUN to enhance research initiatives. Following the unveiling, a football match was held in his honor, where Prof. Gwarzo donated N1 million to the winning team and N500,000 to the runners-up.
This is not the first time Prof. Gwarzo has extended his generosity to ADUST. He has previously donated a 60-seater luxury bus, an ambulance, and N5 million to the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shehu Alhaji Musa, for his outstanding service to the university.
Meanwhile, the Savannah School of Health Technology, Wudil, has also named its Computer Centre after Prof. Gwarzo in recognition of his invaluable contributions to education. The announcement was made by the Director of the college, Dr. Aliyu Yunusa Aliyu, during the official unveiling of the centre on Monday.
Prof. Gwarzo expressed his appreciation for the honor and pledged scholarships for students to further their education. He also donated N2 million to the institution and lauded the significant enrollment of female students, urging parents to prioritize girl-child education. Stressing the importance of female education, he remarked, “If you educate a girl-child, you educate the society.”
These recognitions reflect Prof. Gwarzo’s unwavering commitment to advancing education and fostering development within the academic community in Nigeria and beyond.
