The management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has announced the lifting of the suspension on the election process for the University's Students Union Government (SUG). This development was disclosed in a release by the University's Head of Corporate Communications and Protocol, Otunba Mike Aladenika, on Saturday.

The announcement stated, "The Students Services Division has been mandated to come out with a schedule for the Student Union Election. This schedule is expected to be released within the next day or two.”

The lifting of the suspension follows a memo issued by the Acting Registrar, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Comrade Ambrose Odiase. The memo indicated that the suspension, which began on May 2, 2024, was due to adverse security reports. However, an updated favorable security report has now allowed the election process to resume.

Aladenika urged the students to remain calm and avoid any actions that could disrupt the elections. He emphasized the need for all participants to adhere to the rules, steering clear of thuggery or any other vices that contravene the institution’s regulations.

The students' union had previously been disbanded following a protest against tuition fee hikes and alleged extortion by the university authorities. The dissolution was ordered on September 1, 2023, due to breaches of the school's rules and regulations.
