Amotekun Bolsters Security in Osun Border Communities Amid School Attack Threats

Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinbi (retd.), the Commandant of Osun State Amotekun Corp, announced on Thursday that the security outfit has intensified surveillance in border communities of the state in response to reported threats of attacks on schools and farm settlements.

Following Governor Ademola Adeleke's alarm earlier in the week regarding alleged plans by criminals to target schools and farm settlements in the state, Brig Gen. Adewinbi (retd.) affirmed that Osun State Amotekun Corp has heightened its patrol activities in border areas. Governor Adeleke had expressed concerns over potential disruptions to the state's development initiatives and had alerted security forces to the threat.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke underscored the importance of preemptive measures to safeguard against potential security breaches and ensure public safety.

Responding to inquiries about the proactive measures being taken by Osun Amotekun, Brig Gen. Adewinbi (retd.) highlighted the collaborative efforts between Amotekun and other security agencies in the state. He emphasized the importance of border security and intelligence gathering in preventing any potential threats to peace and stability within Osun State.

Adewinbi assured the public that the security agencies were fully engaged and committed to maintaining law and order, adding that various strategies were being implemented to enhance security across the state.

He stated, "Amotekun is collaborating with other security agencies. I have been having meetings with security agencies in the state. We are doing everything possible to make sure it doesn’t happen. We are thinking of how to secure our borders, intensify intelligence gathering within the state, and implement other preventive measures."
