Anonymous Alumnus Donates Specialized Assistive Laptops to Visually Impaired GSU Students

The Department of Sociology, Gombe State University, has received a donation of three laptops equipped with specialized assistive software for visually impaired students from an anonymous alumnus of the institution.

The beneficiaries are Sharon Ado, Salamatu Ali, and Danlami Johnson, all 400-level students of the department. The laptops were presented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Danladi Mohammed Umar, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta.

Also present at the presentation were the Head of the Department of Sociology, Dr. Adamu Ahmed; the Departmental Student Adviser, Mallam Arfat Ibrahim; and the President of the National Sociology and Anthropological Association of Students (NSASA).

Speaking during the event, Professor Umar commended the anonymous donor for the generous gesture and praised the Head of Department for facilitating the intervention. 

He reaffirmed the University's commitment to promoting an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students, irrespective of physical challenges.

In his remarks, the NSASA President expressed appreciation to the University Management and the donor for supporting students with special needs.

The donation is expected to significantly improve the academic experience of the beneficiaries and further strengthen the University's efforts toward fostering inclusivity and equal educational opportunities for all.
