Another Student’s Death Sparks Concern Over Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Medical Center

The Federal Polytechnic Bauchi community has been thrown into mourning once again following the death of Maccabees Ado Thomas, an ND I student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, who passed away after an illness.

His death comes barely two weeks after the passing of a female student, an incident that already raised questions about the state of healthcare delivery at the institution’s medical center.

In a condolence message, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) described Thomas as dedicated, humble, and committed to his studies. The SUG Secretary-General, Muhammed Isah Abdullahi, on behalf of the union, expressed sympathy to the deceased’s family, friends, classmates, and department, while praying for his soul’s eternal rest.

The repeated deaths of students in quick succession have sparked serious concern among the student body, with many calling for urgent attention to the Polytechnic medical center, which they say requires better facilities, staff, and timely intervention capacity.

SUG President Haruna Umar also acknowledged the situation, stressing that the union will continue to push for improved healthcare services on campus to safeguard the lives of students.

The deaths have left the campus in grief, while students and stakeholders now demand that the institution’s management prioritize strengthening medical care to prevent further tragedies.
