Arewa Youth Congress Honors LASU VC, Prof. Olatunji-Bello with National Excellence Award

Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, the 9th Substantive Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), has been honored with the prestigious Arewa National Excellence Award by the Arewa Youth Congress, from northern Nigeria. The accolade recognizes her nationalistic leadership disposition and selfless support for individuals from the Arewa region.

In addition to the award, Prof. Olatunji-Bello was decorated as the Taurarunwan Mattassan Arewa, meaning "Light of the North," reflecting her impactful contributions to the progress of Nigeria and her support for individuals from the northern region.

Furthermore, the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy, in collaboration with Cruise Point Publishers, Abuja, honored the Vice Chancellor with an Exemplary Leadership Award. This recognition acknowledges her significant contributions to public good, efficient administration, and advancements in physiology, theology, and education.

The award ceremony took place at Prof. Olatunji-Bello's office on Monday, May 13th, 2024, where she expressed gratitude for the honors. She emphasized the importance of receiving awards based on merit and genuine recognition of accomplishments.

"I wanted to know on what basis you were giving me because I didn't want any award that would be used to seek favor or financial gratification. Your response was satisfactory and convincing, and that's why I am receiving this honor. Thank you for appreciating our good works," said Prof. Olatunji-Bello to the representatives from CRPA.

The recognition from both the Arewa Youth Congress and the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy underscores Prof. Olatunji-Bello's exemplary leadership and contributions to national development. Her dedication to public service and commitment to excellence continue to inspire others across Nigeria.
