As FULafia holds 6th, 7th and 8th convocation ceremonies, vice-chancellor pledges to sustain research, infrastructure development

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has stated the University has come of age in the last 13 years with the founding of 14 research and resource centres among others to help in the fields of research and resource provision.

He said that the University would sustain its support for research, academic activities and infrastructure development with a view to realising the purpose of its creation.

Abdul Rahman said: “We are working in this university as a team, to make meaningful and sustainable impact  and we're poised to make a difference within the limit of our current fortune.”

Abdul Rahman spoke during a press briefing held as part of activities lined up for the institution’s combined convocation ceremonies in Lafia.

Abdulrahman said the University had carefully grounded the graduands with specialised knowledge and skills to make them excel in their chosen fields of study.

He said that the University, stablished in the year 2011, was fast becoming the choice of many candidates in the country.

Presently, he said that the University boasts of a college of medicine, schools of basic and remedial studies and postgraduate studies, 53 departments and 12 faculties.

"The University also has 14 research resource centres and academic directorates, he added.

Abdul Rahman said that the forthcoming 6th, 7th and 8th combined convocation ceremonies would witness the graduation of 6,499 students with 50 of them graduating with first class honours.

He stated that a convocation lecture was scheduled to take  place on Friday, February 9, 2024, with Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), CON, OFR, the Chairman and CEO of National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), as the lecturer.

According to him, the convocation ceremonies would climaxed on Saturday, February 10, 2024, with the presentation of certificates to the graduating students and investiture of the FULafia Chancellor, HRH Abubakar Isa Ahmadu.
