During the award presentation on Friday, February 16, 2024, Professor Pius Mogaji, the Chairman of ASUU FUTA Chapter, provided context for the scholarship. He explained that ASUU’s national body designates November 12 each year to honor heroes in the fight for academic emancipation in Nigeria. As part of this commemoration, scholarships were extended to brilliant students nationwide. Although initially limited to two FUTA students, ASUU FUTA Chapter decided to broaden the scope, ultimately selecting six deserving FUTA students for the award.
