ASUU Raises Alarm Over Government's Failed Promises
Osodeke emphasized ASUU's desire to update the public on developments since the suspension of their last nationwide strike in October 2022 and their engagements with the current administration. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) expressed alarm over what it perceives as the failure of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to fulfill promises made to address ongoing issues affecting public universities.
Speaking at a press conference in Umuahia, Abia State, ASUU's National President, Emmanuel Osodeke, highlighted concerns regarding the living and working conditions within universities, citing reports of increased academic fatalities due to work-related stress and chronic pauperization.
