Babcock University Mourns the Tragic Killing of Prof. Yinka Olomojobi
Babcock University is mourning the tragic death of Prof. Yinka Olomojobi, a lecturer in human rights and gender law, who was fatally shot by gunmen at an event centre in Ogun State.
Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, is in mourning following the tragic death of Prof. Yinka Olomojobi, a distinguished lecturer in human rights and gender law. Prof. Olomojobi was fatally shot by gunmen on Friday night at the Ajadeh Event Centre along Iperu-Sagamu Road in Ogun State.
According to reports made available to Myschoolnews, a group of eight gunmen dressed in black stormed the event centre and shot Prof. Olomojobi when he resisted their attempt to abduct him. The gunmen also abducted two other individuals during the invasion.
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one suspect, Awada Ishaya from Plateau State, who was recently employed as a security guard at the event centre. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining culprits and rescue the kidnapped victims.
In a statement released by Dr. Joshua Suleiman, the Director of Communication and Marketing at Babcock University, the university expressed its shock and sadness over the tragic loss of Prof. Olomojobi. The statement described the incident as an act of "utmost savagery" and a great loss to the university community.

Prof. Olomojobi, who joined Babcock University in 2011, was known for his vibrant personality and dedication to imparting knowledge and empowering young people. He held a Bachelor's degree in Law from Ogun State University and earned his Master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Liverpool and Lancaster University, England, respectively.
The university has assured its stakeholders that it will collaborate with law enforcement agencies and local vigilance groups to enhance security within and around the university campus. Babcock University extended its condolences to Prof. Olomojobi's family, friends, colleagues, and students, praying for God's comfort during this difficult time.
