The Management of Babcock University has announced that its approved haircut, hairstyle, and dress code regulations will be strictly enforced for all students, effective from the commencement of the second semester in January 2026.

The directive, issued by Dr. Olaniyi E. Arije, Vice President of Student Development, emphasizes full compliance with the Student Handbook, noting that the University will actively pursue and sanction violations of personal appearance and dress policies across all campuses.

Key points of the notice include:

  • Hair-Passes Invalidated: All previously issued hair-passes are null and void. Students are directed to discontinue their use immediately, as reliance on such documents constitutes a violation of University policy. Hair-passes are illegal under campus regulations and confer no exemption from approved hairstyles.

  • Prohibited Hairstyles:

    • Male students: Bushy, unkempt hair or beards of any kind.
    • Female students: Hairstyles deemed extreme, indecent, or inconsistent with Student Handbook standards.
  • Prohibited Clothing: During official academic hours, students may not wear:

    • Lycra or body-hugging clothing
    • Sleeveless blouses or dresses
    • Sagging, baggy, boot-cut, or over-length trousers
    • Joggers, sportswear, or “walk-out” wear
    • Corporate or academic wear with tied scarves
    • Traditional outfits such as Bùbù and Dànsiki where restricted by the Handbook
  • Disciplinary Measures: Possession or use of prohibited items on campus will attract immediate disciplinary action, and excuses or claims of ignorance will not be entertained.

The University has mandated enforcement teams to act decisively to ensure compliance, reinforcing Babcock University’s commitment to discipline, excellence, and character development.

Students are expected to resume the second semester fully compliant with all haircut, hairstyle, and dress code regulations.
