In a harrowing ordeal, bandits have demanded a ransom of N20 million for the release of 16 students abducted from a Qur’anic school in Sokoto State. The proprietor of the school, Liman Abubakar, revealed this disturbing development to our reporter on Tuesday.

Abubakar recounted receiving two calls from the bandits on Tuesday morning, during which they questioned his apparent lack of concern for the students' welfare and instructed him to await further instructions. Following the second call, they directed him to meet the village head and convey the demand for N20 million as ransom for the children's release.
