Bayero University Centre for Gender Studies Holds Round-Table Discussion on Research Publications
The event, which involved key stakeholders, aimed to evaluate research conducted between 2023 and 2024, focusing on critical development issues.
Bayero University’s Centre for Gender Studies (CGS), in collaboration with Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS), held a round-table discussion on December 2, 2024, to review four significant research publications. The event, which involved key stakeholders, aimed to evaluate research conducted between 2023 and 2024, focusing on critical development issues.
Dr. Safiya Nuhu Ahmad, Director of CGS, said the session sought to identify strengths and weaknesses in the research and make recommendations for future studies. RLS Nigeria's representative, Mrs. Angela Odah, emphasized the foundation's commitment to climate justice, economic justice, peace, and security in West Africa.
The round-table reviewed research on topics such as domestic workers’ conditions, with discussions focusing on poor working conditions, harassment, and underage labor.
Participants recommended improvements in workers' conditions and urged the enactment of laws to protect domestic workers. Another research on the impact of farmers-herders crises on the quality of life for women and girls in IDP camps in North-Central Nigeria was also analyzed, with suggestions for further exploration of its social consequences.
