The Management of Bayero University Kano (BUK) has imposed an immediate ban on all signing-out activities by graduating students on campus.

The announcement was made in a Special Bulletin issued on Thursday, 26th February 2026 (Vol. XLIV No. 17), citing concerns over the disruptive and inappropriate nature of such celebrations.

The directive prohibits:

  • All forms of signing-out activities, including the use of paint, ink, or markers on the body or university property.
  • Public disturbances or acts carried out under the guise of celebration.
  • Wearing of academic gowns or other specialized attire for unofficial photography or celebrations.

The Management clarified that academic gowns are reserved solely for authorised university ceremonies.

Graduating students found violating the ban will face sanctions in accordance with university regulations. Security personnel have been instructed to enforce the directive and take action against any defaulters.

BUK emphasized that the award of a degree certificate is tied not only to academic performance but also to character, urging students to uphold the dignity and reputation of the University.
