Bayero University Kano Honors Three Distinguished Academics with Emeritus Professorships
Bayero University Kano (BUK) celebrated academic excellence and humanitarian service at its 39th Convocation Ceremony, held on February 15, 2025.
The university conferred Emeritus Professorships on three distinguished academics: Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare, Professor Musa Muhammad Borodo, and Professor Julius Afolabi Falola.
The Emeritus Professorship award is the highest honor bestowed by the university on its most distinguished academics. The recipients were recognized for their exceptional dedication to their fields, producing groundbreaking research, and mentoring countless students.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas praised the honorees, stating, "These individuals have served academia with distinction, and their contributions will never be forgotten. They have inspired generations of students and academics, leaving an indelible mark on our institution."
The three awardees have demonstrated national and international recognition in their respective fields. Professor Garba Dahuwa Azare is a renowned educationist with numerous publications, while Professor Musa Muhammad Borodo is a prolific researcher who has made significant contributions to the medical field. Professor Julius Afolabi Falola is a distinguished academic who has provided leadership and guidance to his colleagues.
Each of the awardees has served the university for nearly four decades, conducting teaching and research, and producing numerous students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels within and outside Nigeria.
