Bayero University Kano Implements New Regulations for Campus Tricycle Services

The Deanery of Student Affairs at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has officially implemented a set of new regulations governing the use of TETFUND tricycle services on the university's New Campus.

The directives, effective immediately as of January 9, 2026, aim to standardize transportation costs, improve service delivery, and manage traffic flow.

The new rules were announced in a statement issued by the office of the Vice-Chancellor and signed by the Dean, Prof. Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza. The regulations are intended to ensure fairness and safety for all students and members of the university community.

The major decisions taken by the Deanery include:

Fixed Fare: The fare from the Main Gate to any destination within the campus is strictly fixed at One Hundred Naira (₦100) only.

Route Mandate: Operators are prohibited from dictating routes or refusing passengers destined for authorized locations within the campus. All students have the right to be conveyed from the gate to their desired drop-off points.

Passenger Limits: The maximum number of passengers permitted per tricycle is set at five (5).

Parking Restrictions: No more than five TETFUND tricycles are allowed to park in front of Ramat Hall simultaneously while waiting for passengers.

Departure Minimums: A minimum of three (3) passengers is required for departure from the Main Gate, with exceptions allowed only for emergency situations.

The University Management urges all students, staff, and tricycle operators to comply strictly with these new rules to ensure a smooth and orderly transportation system on campus.
