29-year-old graduate of Kogi State University, identified as Blessing Moshood, has reportedly been murdered, with her body later discovered in a canal in the Jikwoyi area of Abuja.

According to reports, Blessing, who studied Sociology, left her family home around 8 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a phone call. Speaking on the incident, her sister, Abigail Moshood, said the deceased contacted the family about an hour later, informing them that she intended to briefly return home to pick up her phone charger which she had forgotten.

However, concern grew after Blessing failed to return home and could not be reached the following day.

Abigail explained that the family later heard residents discussing the discovery of a woman’s body inside a canal in Jikwoyi. A description of the hairstyle on the victim reportedly matched that of her sister.

“We later heard people talking about the body of a woman discovered inside a canal, and someone described the hairstyle she had on, which matched my sister’s,” Abigail said.

Abigail said she subsequently visited the police station, where photographs shown to her confirmed that the deceased was indeed her sister.

Neighbours described Blessing as an intelligent and friendly young woman whose death has left the community devastated.
