In a heartwarming reunion, members of the Bayero University, Kano Class of 1987 gathered on December 31, 2023, not only to reminisce about cherished memories but to outline plans for fostering deeper connections and contributing significantly to the alma mater's progress.

The Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, represented by Alhaji Bello Ballama Birniwa, proposed the establishment of a fund within Class '87 to assist members facing challenges or to support families of deceased members.
Additionally, he suggested a broader alumni fund to incentivize Research and Development at Bayero University.

Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, also a member of Class '87, highlighted the importance of such reunions for exchanging pleasantries, reflecting on shared experiences, and expressing gratitude for life's journey.
The VC emphasized the significant progress of Bayero University, now ranked 5th in Nigeria and 2nd among privately-owned universities, according to the 2023 Times Higher Education (THE) ranking.
Commitment to Alma Mater:
The gathering, attended by the acting Registrar, Hajiya Amina Umar Abdullahi, witnessed expressions of commitment from members toward the success of the reunion.
Professor Abbas commended the caretaker committee's dedication and sacrifice in ensuring the event's success.
University Achievements:
BUK has evolved into one of the world's best universities, boasting 6 campuses, 16 research centers, 18 faculties, and over 40,000 students. The commitment of Class '87 members to send their children to BUK was lauded by the Vice Chancellor.
