BUK Hosts TETFund Kidney Transplant Training for Healthcare Providers
Bayero University, Kano (BUK) recently hosted a 5-day kidney transplant and urology project training for medical doctors and nurses from six university teaching hospitals in the northern region.

The training, facilitated by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), aimed to educate healthcare providers on kidney transplant and urology project management.
The training, which took place at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) conference hall, brought together medical professionals from six benefiting university teaching hospitals, including:

In his opening remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani, highlighted the university's experience in kidney transplant, which started in 2002 with over 100 successful cases recorded. He shared inspiring stories of beneficiaries, including a senior lecturer who received a transplant and is still doing well, as well as expectant mothers who have successfully had their babies.
The training aimed to enhance the capacity of healthcare providers in nephrology and urology, promoting quality care and improved health outcomes for patients."
