The Time International Magazine of New York has released its inaugural list of TIME100 Most Influential People in Health for 2024, and Professor Hadiza Shehu Galadanci of Bayero University, Kano, has been named among the esteemed individuals on the list.

According to Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs, "The individuals on the TIME 100 Health list are a reminder that many things are going right, and their work is enough to inspire the belief that the world of health is in the midst of a golden age of accomplishment and transformation."

Professor Galadanci, born in Galadanci quarters of Kano city, Northwestern Nigeria, is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a senior consultant at the College of Health Sciences/Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. She is currently the Director of the Africa Center of Excellence for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP) at Bayero University, Kano. She was recognized for her innovative and selfless service dedicated to creating tangible, credible change for a healthier population.

In its May 2024 edition, the magazine revealed that Professor Hadiza Galadanci was specifically acknowledged for her innovation, along with 99 others worldwide, whose actions "reflect humanity at its best: people using all their resourcefulness and ingenuity to help one another live better."

The nominees were categorized into five groups: Innovators, Titans, Pioneers, Leaders, and Catalysts. Professor Galadanci was appreciated for her efforts in combating maternal mortality.
