BUK Lecturer, Professor Salisu Maiwada Abubakar Makes History as President of Nutrition Society of Nigeria

Professor Salisu Maiwada Abubakar, a renowned academic and researcher from Bayero University, Kano, has been elected as the President of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN). This milestone marks the first time a northern member has held this esteemed position.

The election took place at the 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society, held at the Afficent Event Center in Kano. As President, Professor Maiwada will lead the society in addressing key nutrition challenges in Nigeria, collaborating with government agencies, international organizations, UN agencies, private sectors, media, and other stakeholders.

Prior to his election, Professor Maiwada received the prestigious Fellowship Award of the Nutrition Society of Nigeria at the opening ceremony of the Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference. This highest honor recognizes his outstanding contributions to nutrition and public health in Nigeria, demonstrating excellence in research, advocacy, and leadership.
