BUK Student Recollects Experience Inside Umar Musa Yar'adua Hall

Recently, yesterday night, I walked through the Umaru Yar'adua hostel in BUK new site on my way to read at the streetlight of faculty of  Law,  stepping into the dormitory flamed my nostalgia during my first year moments in the campus, the hostel is reserved for every newly admitted male student in his (level one) first year studies in the new campus, it's the last male hostel built and the most beautiful of all the six male hostels. I was among the huge number of students who lived during 2018/19 academic session as a level one student.

It reminds me of the funniest and craziest thing I did in my life, coming to the university that is situated at 632km away from home left me with no choice than to reside on campus, although I prefer staying there because of its advantages on my academic pursuit, despite having relatives in the city.

I had no experience cooking. My only hubby was to eat. It was in the hostel I began learning how to cook to save my money and to maintain the little savings I had.

One day, I crazily and unknowingly put beans and spaghetti to cook together, not knowing beans takes more time to cook than spaghetti. I had to pick the beans one by one after the spaghetti was done. Two of my ten roommates who were present at that time laughed out their ass.

From then, my friends started teaching me how to cook. Now I can cook perfectly, but cooking has never been my hubby. I only cook when I'm extremely ravenous. Thumbs up to our mothers, sisters, and wives who never get tired of helping out with cooking. My learning experience as a student-chef was full of hilarious stories.

Every student, I believe has mad things he or she did, mine here is just one out of many and it still remains in my psyche. On the other hand, I have many untold sympathetic stories but whatever the case, Allah is in control.
