CCCD Hands Over New Security Post to Unizik Management

The Centre for Counselling and Career Development (CCCD), led by Prof. Harry Obi-Nwosu, has completed and handed over a new security post to the University’s Safety Unit. During the commissioning ceremony, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi praised the initiative and awarded a scholarship to the child of a laborer who died during the project.

The Centre for Counselling and Career Development (CCCD) at the university, led by Prof. Harry Obi-Nwosu, has successfully completed and handed over a newly constructed security post to the University’s Safety Unit.

During the commissioning ceremony, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Carol Arinze-Umobi expressed her satisfaction with the initiative, commending the CCCD and its Director for their commendable work. She praised the foresight behind the project and extended her best wishes for the Centre’s continued growth and success.

In a poignant gesture, the Vice-Chancellor awarded a scholarship to the child of a laborer who tragically lost his life during the project, fulfilling a request made by Prof. Obi-Nwosu.

Prof. Obi-Nwosu emphasized the project’s significance as a step toward securing permanent accommodation for the CCCD within the university. He highlighted the Centre's aim to align with the Federal Government's recent mandates by integrating a full range of professional services.

He also credited the Acting Vice-Chancellor for her encouragement during a recent board meeting, which motivated the team to expedite the project's completion. He expressed gratitude to the vision bearer of the CCCD, the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone, FAS.

Mr. Ken Chukwurah, Chief Safety Officer, accepted the new facility on behalf of the University’s Safety Unit. He commended the CCCD for their efforts and assured that the security post would be put to optimal use, expressing deep appreciation for the contributions of both the Centre and the Vice-Chancellor.
