Collaboration is Key to Global Progress, Says UI Deputy Vice-Chancellor

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FSPSP, FNPA, has highlighted the importance of international collaboration to address global challenges. Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, MNI, FAS, FSPSP, Professor Olapegba emphasized that no country can isolate itself from the problems faced by others.

He made this statement while receiving Mr. Martin Cech, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja, and Professor Jan Zahorik from the University of West Bohemia, during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor’s office. The visit, facilitated by Professor Olatunji A. Oyeshile from the Department of Philosophy, sought to strengthen the collaboration between the University of Ibadan and the Czech Republic.

Professor Olapegba underscored the interconnectedness of the modern world, noting that a problem in one country can quickly escalate and affect others within 48 hours, as seen during global crises like the Ebola outbreak and the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that "no entity can afford to operate in isolation" in today's globalized society, and collaboration is crucial for true progress.
