The Faculty of Law, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Awka, on April 10, 2026, intensified its preparation for an upcoming accreditation exercise with a strategic engagement involving prominent industrialist and philanthropist, Chief Dr. ABC Orjiakor (Onwa Nigeria), in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The visit, led by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. E. Q. Okolie, formed part of broader institutional efforts to strengthen academic capacity, deepen stakeholder engagement, and enhance compliance with accreditation standards.
During the engagement, the delegation held discussions with Chief Dr. Orjiakor, who is also associated with SEPLAT Oil and Gas, focusing on strengthening the faculty’s readiness and overall institutional development ahead of the regulatory assessment.
Chief Orjiakor used the opportunity to express concern over what he described as the declining integrity of Nigeria’s judiciary, calling for renewed commitment to professionalism, ethics, and justice system reform. He urged legal educators and students to uphold standards capable of restoring public confidence in the legal profession.

In a significant show of support, the philanthropist pledged backing for the Faculty of Law as it prepares for the accreditation process, a development expected to bolster the faculty’s operational readiness and resource base.
The Dean, Prof. Okolie, was accompanied by the Faculty Examination Officer, Dr. Onyinye Ucheagwu, and Hon. Ejike Okechukwu, Member representing Anaocha II Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
