Outgoing Vice Chancellor of Chukwumemeka Odomegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Prof. Greg Nwakoby, reflects on his five-year tenure, expressing satisfaction in leaving the institution in an improved state. During the celebration marking his tenure and the unveiling of the book titled ‘Greg Nwakoby, The Journey of a Legacy of Enduring Transformation 2018-2023,’ held at the University’s auditorium over the weekend, Prof. Nwakoby conveyed his contentment with the positive changes implemented during his leadership.

The Vice Chancellor emphasized that he harbors no grievances towards anyone and believes that individuals will be judged by posterity for their contributions to humanity. He expressed joy in transforming COOU into a project site, noting the addition of well-equipped learning centers that elevated the university's status among the best in Nigeria.

Acknowledging the celebration organized by friends, associates, and the university management, Prof. Nwakoby thanked everyone who played a role in the success of his administration. He pledged to continue contributing to the growth and development of the university even after leaving office.

Justice Alexius Okuma, the chairman of the occasion, commended Prof. Nwakoby for his impactful legacy, describing him as a leader who came, saw, and conquered COOU. Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, the chief launcher of the book, represented by the State Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Felix Odimegwu, praised Prof. Nwakoby as a visionary leader who carried everyone along.

Highlighting the achievements under Prof. Nwakoby's leadership, Prof. Kingsley Nwozor, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, mentioned a significant increase in the number of professors from 35 to 200. He attributed this growth to merit-based promotions and the resolution of long-overdue promotions for stagnated staff.

Nwozor lauded the outgoing VC for his monumental advancements in infrastructure, welfare, discipline, integrity, transparency, and accountability. In their goodwill messages, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration Professor Mathias Añanti, Academic counterpart Professor Osita Chiaghanam, and House of Representatives member Right Honourable Pascal Agbodike commended Prof. Nwakoby for elevating COOU to stand out as one of the best tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The book, consisting of five chapters, provides a detailed account of Prof. Nwakoby's life, professorial journey, and the transformative period at COOU.
