The three-day event, themed “Navigating and Unlocking the Economic Potential in an Unstable Economy: Strategies for Survival and Sustainability,” offered a platform for rigorous dialogue on the challenges and opportunities within contemporary economies.
Delivering the keynote address, Professor Olalekan Asikia, Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, Lagos, described inflation and salary devaluation as consequences of policy decisions, referring to them as “the new abnormal.” He stressed the need for adaptive economic strategies to mitigate the impact of instability on individuals and institutions.
Crawford University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Solomon Olanrewaju Makinde, MNAE, FLIPAN, highlighted that both developed and developing economies face volatility from global realignments, fiscal and monetary pressures, technological disruptions, and structural constraints. He emphasized that these conditions require careful analysis, informed scholarship, and policy-relevant insights, especially from the Business and Social Sciences disciplines.

The Dean of CBSS, Professor Comfort Amire, noted that the conference theme reflects the fast-changing technological and social dynamics of the era. She reaffirmed the College’s commitment to fostering research-driven discussions that contribute meaningfully to national and global economic discourse.
The conference featured paper presentations, panel discussions, and scholarly exchanges, reinforcing Crawford University’s position as a hub for academic excellence and thought leadership in addressing pressing socio-economic issues.
