Deputy NOUN Bursar Elected ICAN Chairman in Kaduna

Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Aimuyedo Temitope, the Deputy Bursar at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has been elected as the chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Kaduna State Chapter.

Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Aimuyedo Temitope, the Deputy Bursar at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has been elected as the chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Kaduna State Chapter. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for women in leadership roles across various sectors in the country.

Temitope, who also serves as the Head of Account at the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD) in Kaduna, has been described as a “workaholic and a goal getter” by former Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Ahmad Muhammad Makarfi. Makarfi praised her emergence as the 23rd chairman of ICAN, emphasizing that it reflects the positive impact of advocating for women in politics.

In his congratulatory message, Makarfi urged Temitope to remain committed and determined in her new role, ensuring that the institute’s goals are achieved. He highlighted the gradual dismantling of traditional gender barriers and the substantial success that women are achieving across different sectors.

Shortly after her investiture, Temitope expressed her gratitude to God Almighty and acknowledged the efforts of the past Chairman, Mr. Lawal Ibrahim, who encouraged her to stay in the race despite challenges. She likened the chairmanship to a marathon or relay race, emphasizing that each lap contributes to the overall success of the district.

As the 23rd Chairman of ICAN, Kaduna and District Society for the year 2024/2025, Temitope wholeheartedly accepted her role and called for unity in diversity among members. She emphasized the importance of good conscience in their actions and conduct.
