Ebonyi State Government Upgrades 39 Public Secondary Schools to Model Colleges
Ebonyi State Government approves upgrade of 39 public secondary schools to model colleges, prioritizing educational advancement and infrastructure development.
In a significant move to enhance the quality of education in Ebonyi State, the government has given the green light for the upgrade of 39 secondary schools to model colleges across all 13 local government areas. The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information/Orientation, Jude Okpor, during a press briefing in Abakaliki on Wednesday following the State Executive Council meeting.
Okpor emphasized that the decision reflects the government's commitment to providing top-notch educational facilities for Ebonyi children. He stated, "The schools at completion will not only be citadels of learning but moral reset factories for Ebonyi children."
In addition to the school upgrades, the State Executive Council also sanctioned the perimeter survey of public primary and secondary schools in the state. This proactive measure aims to prevent land encroachment issues that have plagued government-owned facilities in the past.
Addressing concerns regarding the review of government awarded contracts, Okpor clarified that the council has set a clear guideline. Contracts receiving 50 percent of the total sum as mobilization will not undergo further reviews of the total contract sum.
