Edo State Campus Monitoring Committee (CMC) strengthens ties with Police

In a quest to ensure stronger relationship between Edo State security agencies and higher education students, the National Association of University Students, Edo State Campus Monitoring Committee (CMC), led by Chairman COMR OSAHON DESTINY ESEOSA, conducted a significant visit to the Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Ekpoma Area Command, Acp.Mr Tissing Nandiyak, Myschoolnews gathered.

The meeting, held on September 26, 2023, saw a warm reception of the CMC delegation by the Assistant Commissioner.

During the visit, Chairman COMR. OSAHON DESTINY underscored the purpose of the meeting, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the Association and state security agencies. He highlighted the importance of innovative approaches to tackle security challenges faced by students in Edo State universities, particularly in their interactions with law enforcement.

Acp.Mr Nandiyak, the Area Commander, expressed gratitude for the visit and emphasized the paramount importance of students' well-being, while also stressing adherence to the law. He provided a comprehensive explanation of the dynamic relationship between students, university management, and the security apparatus. Legal rights of the police, including the necessity for warrants and lawful procedures during searches, were elucidated for students.

Throughout the meeting, the CMC delegation engaged in a constructive dialogue with the Area Commander, seeking clarifications on various aspects. The CMC committed to educating students on these matters through its Directorate of Legal Affairs.

As the session concluded, Director of Gender and Campus Affairs COMR.DEHBORA expressed deep gratitude, reaffirming the CMC's unwavering dedication to safeguarding and advocating for the interests and welfare of university students within Edo State.
