“Education is Key to National Development,” Says UI Deputy Vice-Chancellor

The University of Ibadan (UI) has reiterated the pivotal role of education in national development during a courtesy visit by the Higher Education, Research, and Policy Network (HERPNET) to the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FNPA, fspsp, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), speaking on behalf of Vice-Chancellor Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, emphasized that education remains the foundation of societal advancement and must not be neglected amid the pursuit of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Professor Olapegba highlighted that the neglect of education threatens national growth, as it underpins the progress of all sectors. He called for stronger advocacy and positive awareness for education-related courses, challenging the long-standing perception that education serves merely as a fallback option. He urged the conference participants to develop a communiqué capturing key deliberations and resolutions to enhance academic excellence and institutional development.
