Students have expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for the loan, stating that it would help make education an achievable dream for those who are financially constrained.
Students have reacted in large numbers to the free interest loan scheme initiative for students, following the announcement of the portal opening.
This comes after the Managing Director of the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Akintunde Sawyerr, announced in a statement signed by Nasir Ayitogo, the Media and Public Relations Lead, that the application period for student loans through its portal will commence on May 24.

Students have expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for the loan, stating that it would help make education an achievable dream for those who are financially constrained. “This measure should make higher education more accessible and affordable. The government’s commitment to supporting students and their families is highly commendable,” expressed one student.
“In the midst of so much hardship, this is one good thing—a ray of light, a sign of hope, a reason to smile. Hopefully, other things will fall into place soon,” another added. “This is a dream come true. We’ve been struggling to fund our education, but now we have hope for a brighter future. Kudos to the FG for finally listening to our pleas,” remarked another.

“The student loan initiative is a dream come true for many Nigerian students. The less privileged can now pursue their tertiary education without the burden of financial stress. It’s a really welcome initiative that stands out,” said another.
“I’m thrilled about the student loan initiative, as it will greatly benefit many students returning to school and alleviate the stress on their parents. This policy will significantly drive educational advancement in Nigeria.”
