Named the Adebola Olubanjo Health Centre, the facility was officially commissioned in a ceremony marked by joy and celebration, furthering the university’s mission of academic excellence and community service.
The health centre is a comprehensive medical complex designed to improve healthcare delivery for both the university community and neighboring areas. It features a theatre room, consulting rooms, administrative offices, male and female wards, an X-ray room, and dedicated antenatal and prenatal sections, among other essential facilities.
The commissioning ceremony drew dignitaries, members of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, and friends and family of the donor. Representing the Visitor to the University and General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. (Dr.) Sam Aboyeji, his wife, Rev. Mrs. Olabisi Aboyeji, commended Elder (Dr.) Olubanjo for his foresight, generosity, and enduring commitment to humanity.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Francis Igbasan, the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Kenneth Nwoko, described the facility as a transformative addition that will serve not only the university but also 14 surrounding villages. He emphasized that donations of this nature strengthen the institution’s capacity to provide quality healthcare while extending its impact beyond the campus.
Professor Igbasan, through his representative, highlighted Elder (Dr.) Olubanjo’s selflessness, noting, “Buildings like this do not rise from blueprints alone; they are forged in the fires of dedication and devotion.” He described the donor as a model of service and commitment.
The Vice Chancellor further recognized Dr. Olubanjo’s enduring contributions to McPherson University, citing his strategic guidance as a former member of both the University’s Board of Trustees and Governing Council, which helped shape the institution’s steady growth. Beyond governance, Dr. Olubanjo has been instrumental in mobilizing resources, inspiring philanthropy, and personally investing in the university’s expansion, facilitating the establishment of key facilities and empowering scholars across disciplines.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Engr. (Pastor) Kunle Allen, praised Elder (Dr.) Olubanjo’s consistent support and devotion to the university. “You have been continually involved in building McPherson University,” he affirmed, emphasizing that the donor’s legacy is deeply embedded in the institution’s history. Pastor Allen also encouraged continued support, stating, “We are highly receptive to any gift or donation that will help us build the McPherson University of our dreams.”
The event featured a stirring musical performance by Dr. (Mrs.) Kenny Olubanjo, wife of the donor, which reflected the family’s shared faith and commitment to the university’s vision.
Delivering an exhortation, the National Secretary of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev. Samson Alawode, described the facility as “a place of learning, healing, and hope,” and lauded the donor’s humility and spiritual depth. “This kind of generosity can only come from a heart that has conquered greed,” he remarked.
Elder (Dr.) Adebola Olubanjo, speaking on the inspiration behind the project, credited the success to collective effort. “I am only the lead; this is our project, it is our collective work,” he said, dedicating the facility to God and the entire McPherson community.

He concluded with a visionary outlook, expressing hope that the health centre would one day evolve into a full-fledged teaching hospital. “I see a place where people will not only receive medical care but also encounter Christ. It is not just a hospital, it is a ministry,” he declared to resounding applause.
