Okolie Ebuka Francis from the Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering (MPE).
A native of Nnewi South Local Government Area in Anambra State, Engr. Okolie not only emerged as the BGS for his department but also earned the prestigious title of Overall Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Engineering, with an impressive Final Cumulative Grade Point Average (FCGPA) of 4.61.
Engr. Okolie's aspiration to become a mechanical engineer was nurtured from an early age, influenced by his father's prominence as a business merchant in machine spare parts in Nnewi. His dedication, hard work, and commitment have set high standards among his peers and fellow students.
Reflecting on his journey, Engr. Okolie acknowledged the challenges he faced during his academic tenure, admitting that there were moments when he contemplated quitting. Currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Lagos, he articulated the significance of his achievement as a standard not just for himself but also for his siblings, as the first child in his family. “I can confidently say that my five years at ESUT were worth it. From the wonderful friends I made to the challenging times I faced, each moment contributed to my growth. I thank God for always being there for me,” he shared.
Engr. Okolie's accomplishment carries profound meaning for him and his family. “This feat means a lot to me. As the first child, I have set a strong example for my siblings, and I feel proud to have made my family happy. I’m truly grateful for this moment,” he expressed.
Recently, as the BGS of the Faculty of Engineering, Engr. Okolie represented ESUT at the 2024 Engineering CODET event in Abuja, showcasing the excellence of the university's engineering programs.
With aspirations of becoming the "Aruna Quadri of Africa," Engr. Okolie also has a passion for table tennis and a desire to continue learning and teaching. His future plans include venturing into Automobile Engineering, pending availability of funding for further studies.
As ESUT celebrates the achievements of its graduates, Engr. Okolie Ebuka Francis stands as a shining example of determination, excellence, and the spirit of innovation, inspiring future generations of engineers.
