Enugu House of Rep Member Clears WAEC Fees for 105 Indigent Students

Chimaobi Atu, the representative of Enugu North and South federal constituency, presented cheques of N37,200 each to 105 indigent students from 24 public schools within his constituency. The funds provided will cover both the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees and school fees for two terms.

In a commendable move towards promoting education and supporting the less privileged, Chimaobi Atu, the representative of Enugu North and South federal constituency, presented cheques of N37,200 each to 105 indigent students from 24 public schools within his constituency. The funds provided will cover both the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees and school fees for two terms.

Chimaobi Atu expressed his commitment to boosting education and alleviating the challenges faced by the less privileged in his community. During the presentation ceremony, he stated, "Chimaobi Sam Atu Foundation believes all children, irrespective of family background, should be given the same opportunity to pursue a better future. No doubt, quality education is an equalizer."

Atu, who is the son of a dedicated primary school teacher, emphasized that quality education has been a personal conviction long before he entered politics. He expressed his burning desire to ensure that no child is denied the opportunity for a better life due to their background or circumstances.

The selected students, described by Atu as "wonderful young men and women who hold our collective future," were chosen based on reports from a team that visited the 24 public schools in the constituency. Atu highlighted their brilliance and courage, emphasizing the crucial role they are expected to play in leading the country in the future.

Additionally, Atu revealed that the Chimaobi Sam Atu Foundation plans to award Senior School Certificate Examination, A-Level, and tertiary education scholarships to over one thousand students in Enugu North and South federal constituency by June.

Hillary Mgbodile, the Chairman of the Post Primary School Management Board in Enugu State, commended Atu for his support, especially considering the increased difficulty faced by parents in covering the rising examination fees. Mgbodile noted the recent fee hikes by WAEC and the National Examinations Council, making it challenging for parents to afford these essential fees for their children.

The generous gesture by Chimaobi Atu has received widespread praise for its positive impact on education and the lives of the less privileged in the Enugu North and South federal constituency.
