The Students’ Union Government of Enugu State University of Science and Technology has issued an update addressing growing concerns among students over delays in NELFUND disbursement, calling for calm while assuring that steps are being taken to resolve the issue.
In a statement signed by the SUG President, the leadership acknowledged the frustration among students, particularly those affected financially, and expressed regret over earlier assurances that payment support had already been approved.
According to the statement, the union confirmed that cleared beneficiary lists from the bursary unit have been forwarded and approved, with assurances that the university bursary office is expected to commence payments to eligible students who have completed fee obligations by Monday afternoon.
The SUG President emphasized that responsibility for further processing has now moved beyond student leadership, noting that implementation rests with the university’s administrative and financial structures.

Students were urged to remain patient until Tuesday, with a strong appeal for calm as efforts continue to ensure funds are released to rightful beneficiaries without further delay.
However, the statement also introduced a firm warning that if there is no visible progress by Tuesday, the union may escalate its actions to pressure relevant authorities into immediate resolution.
The leadership further called on university management to expedite the release of funds, stressing the financial hardship being experienced by students and the urgency of restoring normal academic and welfare conditions.
The update reflects mounting pressure within tertiary institutions over student funding schemes, highlighting the tension between administrative processes and student welfare expectations.
