The Federal Government has made significant strides in establishing the Federal University of Environment and Technology (FUET) in Ogoni, Rivers State. Here are the key developments.

President Bola Tinubu signed the bill establishing FUET on February 3, 2025, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria's educational landscape.

The university will prioritize interdisciplinary programs in environmental science, clean energy, and sustainable technology, equipping students to tackle regional and national ecological issues.

FUET aims to train skilled professionals capable of addressing oil-spill damage, water and soil pollution, gas-flaring, and broader ecological challenges ravaging the Niger Delta.

The university will temporarily operate from the Kira Campus of Rivers State University (RSU) until its permanent site is developed.

President Tinubu has approved funds for the university's development via the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), paving the way for its growth and success.
