An alumnus of the nation’s Most Outstanding University, the University of Ilorin, Mrs Kemi Nandap, has been appointed the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (CGNIS).

The appointment of Mrs Nandap, which was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was announced in a statement dated Wednesday, January 22, 2024 and signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale.

Mrs Nandap, who hails from Ogun State and was born in Zaria, Kaduna State, on June 3,1966, graduated from the Department of Biochemistry, University of Ilorin.

The distinguished UNILORITE, who is the third woman to head the nation’s Immigration Service, replaces Mrs Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, whose term in office expires on February 29,  2024.

Prior to her appointment, Mrs Nandap was the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of the Migration Directorate of the Service.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has felicitated with the new Head of the Nigeria Immigration Service on her well-deserved elevation to the pinnacle of her career.

The Vice Chancellor, in a statement signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs, University of Ilorin, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that the management, staff and students of the University welcomed the appointment of Mrs Nandap.

Prof. Egbewole said that the entire members of the University community are delighted and proud that an alumnus of the institution has been found worthy of heading such a sensitive paramilitary agency at this particular point in the nation’s history.

The Vice Chancellor, who is also the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), however, said that he was not surprised with Mrs Nandap’s elevation as the Better By Far University has always prepared its alumni for efficient service delivery anywhere they find themselves.

Prof. Egbewole, therefore, expressed optimism that Mrs Nandap would exhibit the needed resilience, outright probity and profound patriotism that have been imbued in her, particularly since her days as a student of the University.

While thanking President Tinubu for appointing Mrs Nandap, the award-winning legal luminary expressed the conviction that the new Immigration Chief would not only discharge her duties effectively but would also excel beyond expectations.

The Vice Chancellor wished the new Comptroller-General a very peaceful, productive and rewarding tenure of office.
