The FCT College of Nursing Sciences Gwagwalada is mourning the loss of one of its most dedicated final-year students, Mrs. Vivian Enemeka Orji, who passed away recently following a medical surgery at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH).

Mrs. Orji, a mother of three and a graduate of Microbiology, was known for her resilience and commitment to her studies. Despite the challenges of balancing academic demands with family responsibilities, she remained a pillar of strength in her class, often earning the affectionate nickname "Mama" from her peers and faculty.

Her sudden death has left a profound impact on those who knew her. "Personally, her sudden demise left me feeling shocked till date," said a lecturer from the college, who had known Mrs. Orji since her first year. "We used to crack jokes, and I was always proud of her for taking on the demanding role of a student nurse despite the challenges."

The lecturer also shared a personal reflection, noting that Mrs. Orji’s passing evokes painful memories of their own mother’s death following multiple surgeries at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu. The loss of Mrs. Orji has stirred up feelings of grief and trauma reminiscent of that earlier personal tragedy.

As the college grapples with this loss, Mrs. Orji’s memory will be cherished by her classmates and instructors. "From the day I received the sad news of her death, each time I enter her class to teach, I feel her complete absence and wonder why death could be so wicked," the lecturer shared.
