Noble Mind Initiatives recently held a meeting with Abdulkadir Kure University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Aliyu Paiko, to propose a partnership aimed at combating illegal mining activities in the vicinity of the university. During the discussion, Prof. Paiko outlined AKU's ongoing efforts, including collaborations with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and shared future security plans designed to enhance campus safety.

University officials, including Registrar Dr. Garba Abdullahi, expressed their support for the initiative, highlighting its potential benefits for the university community. Dr. Bala Abubakar Shehu, Director of Academic Planning, raised concerns regarding the management of licensed miners in the area, seeking clarity on how the partnership would address this issue.

In his address, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that management has already devised plans to seal off a small gate entrance from Shango to curb illegal miners' late-night activities and prevent petty criminals from vandalizing university property. He also mentioned plans to repair damaged areas around the university’s perimeter fence and increase the number of security personnel, as well as the installation of solar-powered CCTV cameras for enhanced surveillance.

In response, Adamu Suleiman Mashegu, Commissioner for Northcentral of Noble Minds Initiatives, assured the Vice-Chancellor that once a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is signed between the parties, they would deploy surveillance personnel at identified illegal mining hotspots, including the AKU Minna campus and the MI Wushishi housing estate.
