Federal Government Allocates N5.1 Billion for TETFund Research Grants

In a significant development, the Federal Government has granted approval for the allocation of N5,128,180,623 to fund 185 successful research proposals through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund National Research Fund 2023 Grant Cycle. The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, following the recommendations of the TETFund National Research Fund Screening and Monitoring Committee.

This allocation is the outcome of a rigorous screening process that commenced in March 2023, involving the review of 4,287 Concept Notes submitted by prospective applicants. The approved funds are distributed across thematic groups, with N3,784,635,923 allocated to Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation, N759,875,400 to Humanities and Social Science, and N583,669,300.63 for the Cross-Cutting thematic group.

Individual grants within these groups range from N8 million to over N46 million. The approved research projects cover a broad spectrum, including topics such as water quality management, innovative agricultural practices, electric vehicles, and various cross-cutting initiatives aimed at addressing societal challenges.
