Federal Government Reaffirms Commitment to Free Technical Education; Opens Applications for Colleges

The Federal Ministry of Education has announced the commencement of applications for admission into Federal Technical Colleges across Nigeria, reaffirming the government's commitment to providing free technical and vocational education (TVE). The initiative aims to equip young Nigerians with practical, industry-relevant skills. 

Following the approval by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, the program aligns with the national strategy for human capital development and youth empowerment. The Federal Government has reiterated that education within these institutions is entirely state-funded upon admission. 

Registration for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal Technical Colleges opens on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Registration Period: January 26, 2026, to May 24, 2026.

Entrance Examination Date: Saturday, June 6, 2026 (nationwide).

Eligibility: Candidates must be aged between 13 and 20 years.

Prospective candidates are mandated to complete their applications via the official National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) online portal.

Note: Possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is a compulsory prerequisite for successful registration. 

The Ministry has advised all applicants, parents, and guardians to rely strictly on official communication from the Federal Ministry of Education and designated examination bodies to avoid misinformation. The government remains focused on expanding access to quality TVE that promotes self-reliance and national economic growth.
