Federal Ministry of Education Approves NYSC Mobilization for Full-Time HND Graduates from Part-Time OND Background
The Federal Ministry of Education has approved the NYSC mobilization of full-time HND graduates who previously obtained their OND through part-time programs.

The Federal Ministry of Education has resolved a long-standing issue concerning the mobilization of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). According to a new directive announced by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, full-time HND graduates who previously obtained their Ordinary National Diploma (OND) through part-time programs are now eligible for NYSC mobilization.
This development underscores the government's commitment to equity, fairness, and inclusivity in Nigeria’s education system. However, the directive clarifies that graduates who completed their HND through part-time programs remain ineligible for NYSC service.
To facilitate a seamless mobilization process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been instructed to expedite the collation of data for eligible graduates. In line with this, a circular has been sent to all Rectors of Polytechnics, directing them to upload the necessary graduate records onto the newly established HND admission portal. This portal will serve as the official database for NYSC eligibility, addressing previous issues concerning admission records.
Dr. Alausa encouraged all eligible full-time HND graduates to take advantage of this opportunity and proceed with their mobilization. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates to contribute to national development through the NYSC scheme.
This decision marks a significant step in ensuring that all deserving graduates, irrespective of their OND admission background, are given the opportunity to participate in the national service program.
