The Federal Polytechnic Ede has announced the expulsion of 27 Higher National Diploma (HND) students following their involvement in a violent riot that took place in May. The unrest included attacks on staff members and significant property damage, triggered by the arrest of several students by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

An investigative panel, established to probe the incident, recommended the expulsions. Additionally, eight students have been suspended for two academic sessions, and two former student union leaders have been permanently banned from the campus.

The management of the Federal Polytechnic Ede reiterated that the actions of the expelled and suspended students are in direct conflict with the institution's core values of knowledge, skill, and character.
