Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja Pledges Support for CUSTECH College of Medical Sciences

The Management of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja (FTHL), has pledged its full support to the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, towards the successful development of its College of Medical Sciences and the production of its first set of medical graduates.

The assurance was given by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Associate Professor Abdulrahman Shehu, when he led the management team of the hospital on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of CUSTECH,Osara, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, at his office on the University's permanent campus in Osara.

Speaking during the visit, Associate Professor Shehu expressed delight at the remarkable progress already recorded by the University's College of Medical Sciences, describing the achievements as impressive for an institution that is still relatively young.

He commended the University Management for its visionary leadership and commitment to excellence, assuring that the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, would work closely with CUSTECH to ensure the success of the College and facilitate the graduation of its pioneer medical students.

According to the CMD, the collaboration between both institutions will contribute significantly to producing competent medical professionals capable of addressing the healthcare needs of Kogi State and the nation.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, FNSE, congratulated the Chief Medical Director on his successful first 100 days in office and appreciated him and his management team for their readiness to partner with CUSTECH in advancing medical education.

Prof. Salawu noted that the partnership would strengthen the University's capacity to produce highly skilled healthcare professionals and further enhance healthcare delivery in the state.

The Vice-Chancellor also paid glowing tribute to the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for conceiving the establishment of CUSTECH, and commended the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his sustained support towards the growth of the University, particularly the development of the College of Medical Sciences, which he described as one of the University's flagship academic programmes.

As part of the visit, the Vice-Chancellor conducted the Federal Teaching Hospital delegation on an inspection tour of the College of Medical Sciences, where they

were acquainted with the facilities and developmental strides recorded by the College.

Prof. Salawu also commended the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Prof. Solomon Avidime, for his dedication and invaluable contributions to the steady growth and advancement of the College.

The Vice-Chancellor was joined in receiving the delegation by the University Librarian, Mrs. Helen Osebequen Chris-Israel; the Director of Academic Planning, Pharm. Muhammed Asuku Audu; and the Ag. Head, Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, Mr. Umar Steven Ogirima.
