Federal University Lokoja Distributes Official Vehicles to Deans, Plans 50 Electric Buses to Boost Campus Mobility

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has approved the allocation of official vehicles to four faculty deans as part of efforts to strengthen academic administration and improve operational efficiency within the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has approved the allocation of official vehicles to four faculty deans as part of efforts to strengthen academic administration and improve operational efficiency within the institution.

The symbolic handover ceremony, held on campus, was described by stakeholders as a notable milestone in the university’s ongoing administrative and infrastructural reforms.

Professor Ibileye stated that the initiative is designed to ease mobility challenges faced by faculty leadership and enhance their capacity to discharge official duties effectively. He emphasized that the intervention reflects a gradual but deliberate approach to institutional development.

He clarified that the vehicles are strictly institutional assets attached to the offices of the deans and not personal property of the occupants. According to him, the objective is to strengthen administrative structures and improve service delivery across faculties.

The Vice-Chancellor added that the distribution marks the beginning of a broader plan that will eventually extend similar support across all faculties in phases. He noted that the four beneficiary faculties represent some of the oldest academic units in the university and remain central to its growth trajectory.

Professor Ibileye also disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Education has commended the university’s forward-looking approach, particularly its interest in adopting electric mobility solutions for campus transportation.

He further revealed that plans are underway for the procurement of 50 electric mini buses aimed at addressing transportation challenges within the university community and aligning with global trends in sustainable mobility.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor S. D. Musa, commended the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership, describing the intervention as evidence of a management team committed to staff welfare and institutional progress.

Following a ballot-based allocation exercise conducted by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), the Faculty of Arts received a black Toyota Sienna, while the Faculty of Social Sciences was assigned a Toyota Camry (2010 model). Details of allocations for the remaining faculties were confirmed to be part of the broader distribution exercise.
