FG Seeks Ties with UAE on Educational Development

The Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has emphasized Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates' commitment to exploring educational opportunities. This commitment includes research, scholarship, exchange programs, and knowledge transfer between the two countries.

During a courtesy call by the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Saleem Saeed Alshamsi, Mamman expressed Nigeria's interest in studying the development model of the United Arab Emirates, particularly in light of Dubai's global status as a shopping center. Mamman highlighted Nigeria's potential to benefit from this model given its vast resources.

Furthermore, Mamman appealed to Ambassador Alshamsi to help resolve the impasse surrounding the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) and flight operations between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.

In response, Ambassador Alshamsi urged Mamman to facilitate the conclusion and signing of the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) between the two countries. He also requested Mamman's visit to the .Emirates, highlighting his country's Minister of Higher Education's interest in meeting Nigeria's Minister of Education to advance educational interests.

Reflecting on the 41 years of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates, Ambassador Alshamsi commended the Nigerian people for their hard work and talent.
