Former President Obasanjo Applauds Afe Babalola University's Academic Excellence and Leadership

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has lauded Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Ekiti State, for its remarkable achievements in academia and administration within just 15 years of establishment. Obasanjo, speaking during a visit to ABUAD's campus in Ado-Ekiti to inform the institution's founder, Chief Afe Babalola, of his upcoming birthday, commended ABUAD for setting a sterling example of how universities should be effectively managed in the 21st century.

In a statement released by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Tunde Olofintola, Obasanjo expressed admiration for ABUAD's global reputation for academic excellence and scholastic achievements. He emphasized that the institution's rapid growth and international recognition were not mere coincidences but the result of Chief Afe Babalola's unwavering dedication, vision, commitment, and determination.

The former president applauded the faculty and staff of ABUAD for embracing Chief Afe Babalola's visionary approach to university management, which aims to raise a new generation of leaders and set a benchmark for educational institutions worldwide.

Recalling his past collaborations with Chief Afe Babalola, Obasanjo nostalgically recounted how Babalola transformed the University of Lagos (UNILAG) during his tenure as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. He praised Babalola's impactful leadership, stating that his contributions to UNILAG had left a lasting legacy that continues to influence the institution positively.

Obasanjo remarked, "I will not forget what he did to Education during my tenure as President by accepting to be Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council of the University of Lagos. During his seven-year stint, he made the university become a model among federal universities in this country. His impact on UNILAG remains until today."
