Four schools—Federal Government Girls College Abuloma, Aladumo International School, Enitonna High School, and Seacrest Preparatory School—have advanced to the finals of the inaugural Education Champions League (ECL) quiz competition in Rivers State.

Four schools have qualified for the finals of the inaugural Education Champions League (ECL) quiz competition, a prestigious event organized for secondary school students in Rivers State. The finalists are Federal Government Girls College Abuloma, Aladumo International School, Enitonna High School, and Seacrest Preparatory School, each showcasing exceptional academic prowess.

The semi-finals took place on September 28, 2024, at two venues: Seacrest Preparatory School and Aladumo International School. Federal Government Girls College and Aladumo International School emerged victorious at the Seacrest venue, while Enitonna High School and Seacrest Preparatory School topped the competition at Aladumo.

The finals are set for October 26, 2024, where the four schools will compete for three prestigious awards: the O.B. Lulu Briggs Award, the Claude Ake Award, and the Boma Erokosima Award. The prizes include 10 million naira for the champion, 5 million naira for the runner-up, and 2.5 million naira for third place.

Datom Kio Lawson from the Test Integrity Group (TIG), a partner in the competition, emphasized the importance of participation, urging schools that did not advance to view the experience positively. “It’s not about who is better; sometimes it’s about luck and the questions drawn,” Lawson noted. He encouraged all participants to focus on enhancing their reading culture and academic engagement.

N’kay Amadi, an official of the league, stated that the ECL aims to revive a reading culture among the youth through academic debates and leadership programs. “Every participating school has demonstrated remarkable talent, making this competition a true celebration of intellect and creativity,” he said.

As excitement builds for the finals, the Education Champions League promises to inspire students and promote academic excellence across Rivers State.
