The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD), Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammed, has approved the implementation of the Federal University Dutse Non-Teaching Staff Provident Fund (FUD-NPTF), set to commence in March 2025.

The primary objective of the FUD-NPTF is to provide financial support for non-teaching staff retirees and offer educational training assistance for the children of deceased members. The initiative has gained the backing of the Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). This type of trust fund has been in operation for academic staff under the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for years, making its extension to non-teaching staff a significant development.

The FUD-NPTF will operate as an independent entity with its own bylaws. Membership in the fund is mandatory for all non-teaching staff, except those who choose to opt out voluntarily. To sustain the fund, a compulsory monthly contribution of N1,000 will be deducted directly from members' salaries.

The university management urges all non-teaching staff members to comply with the fund’s directives and anticipates a smooth take-off in March 2025.
